A clear order for Sunday soundcheck
Agree who is leading the check and when the worship team should arrive. Leave time for spoken microphones, videos and livestream audio.
Download the soundcheck checklist. Adapt it to your equipment and follow your church’s safety procedures. It supports a trained operator; it does not replace training.
Prepare
- Read the service plan and check who is speaking or playing.
- Check microphones, stands and input labels.
- Follow your usual startup procedure.
- Keep walkways clear and report damaged equipment.
- Have the agreed backup microphone ready.
Check one source at a time
Ask each person to speak or play at their normal level. Confirm the correct input, then follow your trained procedure for levels and routing. Say whose input you are checking and ask others to wait.
If something is missing, identify the source before changing several controls.
Check the full service
- Confirm what musicians need in their monitors.
- Listen to the full team playing together.
- Test the speaker’s microphone and service videos.
- Check livestream audio separately from the room mix.
- Agree microphone handovers and a contact for changes.
Keep the checklist with your team
Assign sound in Levites and share the checklist in your media team’s notes. Include arrival details and changes for that service.
Afterwards
Follow the shutdown procedure, put equipment away and record unresolved faults for the next operator.
Next: plan the roles with the media team rota guide.
